Alabama A&M University Events Center
The Event Center creates a gateway to the west side of the Alabama A&M University campus. This iconic building will be utilized not just by AAMU, but also by the community for functions, graduations, tournaments, and other events. The imagery of the building is contemporary with its use of glass and metal panels, but uses a palette of brick, stone, and classical columns to create a relationship with the traditional campus. This 5,000 seat arena also includes meeting rooms, an event kitchen to serve large events, four concession areas around the concourse level, weight room, training room, locker rooms, and offices for the basketball and volleyball programs, event suite with an elevated patio overlooking the hill, and Hall of Fame. Visitors ascend a monumental staircase on the exterior entrance side of the building to the concourse level. This staircase perforates into the interior.
