Crunkleton Office
300 Pratt Avenue is home to a young, progressive commercial real estate firm located in Huntsville. The project involved the renovation of an undistinguished concrete block warehouse constructed in the 1940s. Located on the fringe of historic downtown Huntsville, the building is one of the first to be redeveloped in an area that promises to be a popular residential and retail district in the coming decade. The front portion of the building is clad in charcoal-colored horizontal siding made from recycled plastic. A parapet supersedes the eave height of the original warehouse to give the building more imposing street presence. The distinctive entrance feature is constructed of 3x12 cedar boards with a concealed copper roof. The non-nonsense floor plan is comprised of offices, conference rooms, and support spaces around the perimeter, defining a central informal collaborative area.
